  1. Do I have to be a Keystone College student to use the library?
No. Anyone with a valid photo ID may apply for a library card and check out library materials. Children under age 12 can apply for a card if a parent is present.  Anyone with a Lackawanna County Library System Card is also eligible to check out materials.

  2. Does the library have a copy machine?
Yes, the library does have a copier on the Main Floor near the Circulation Desk.  You need a copy card to use the machine. It does not accept change.  For one-time copying, you may use the Library's Courtesy Card and pay $0.20 cents per-page for your copying needs. For more involved copying, you must purchase a copy card. These blank, rechargeable copy cards require a  $1.00 deposit, and then you can add any amount you want to the card for present and future copies. Copies are $0.10 each if you own a copy card. Do not throw out your copy card when you have used up your spending allotment. It can be recharged for more copying.

  3. How do I renew my materials online?   See it.
To renew your materials online: Library Home--> Library Catalog--> My Account. Enter your Student or Employee ID Patron. Your PIN number is the last 4 numbers of your ID. Patrons who have not recently used the Library, or those patrons with older "key tag" barcodes may need to stop by the Library to update their account information before this feature is available.

  4. How do I access Closed Reserve materials?
If your instructor has placed items on Closed Reserve, you must go to the Circulation Desk in the Library to review the material.  You'll need your student ID, the instructor's name AND the class name and number to access the item(s).  In most cases, items placed on Closed Reserve can be checked out for up to three hours for "in library use". Closed Reserve items cannot leave the library, but if you own a copy card, you may make copies of the material.

  5. What do I do if I can't find a book that I checked out?
If you cannot find a book that you checked out, notify the library immediately.  We may be able to help you find the book and/or pay any fines or fees. Lost books cost $50.00 and are also subject to fines for every day the book is late. When you report the book lost, we may be able to stop further fines from accruing.  In any event, unpaid library bills and fines are forwarded to the Business Office and can prevent you from receiving transcripts, registering for classes, and can even keep you from graduating.

  6. What do I do if library records say I didn't return a book, but I know I did?
If you believe that you returned a book, notify the library immediately.

  7. How do I access library databases from home?
The Catalog and many of the Miller Library databases are currently available off campus via the Internet. To see which databases are available and to access, visit the Library's Databases page, find the database you wish to use and click on the appropriate
Off Campus button. There are a number of databases that may also be available from home with a PA public library card. Visit your local public library website or stop by the Miller Library to fill out your application.

  8. Are there Group Study Areas in the library?
While some areas of the library can seat small groups for study, there are no designated study rooms currently available. Quiet group studying may take place on the Main Floor of the Library. The Library's Fourth Floor is an identified QUIET area.  You may be asked to relocate, if your group does not adhere to the quiet area protocols.

  9. Does the Library have a public fax machine?
No, the library does not have a publicly accessible fax machine.
