Arts Journal: The Daily Digest of Arts & Cultural Journalism -- Daily compilation from newspapers, magazines, and publications about art & culture from around the world.

Media Centre of the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal -- Directory of Web sites for contemporary art

Mother of all Art and Art History Links (U Mich) -- This site is extremely useful as a gateway to more than 400 sites: academic, museum, commercial, and studio. The categories of links are broad: art history departments, research resources, resources for visual collections, image collections, online exhibitions (a selection), fine art schools, art museums, and textual and linguistic resources.

Museum of Online Museums (MoOM) -- Broken into three separate categories, the site serves as a portal to some very distinctive collections, such as those of the Art Institute of Chicago and France's Musee d'Orsay.

Museum of Web Art (MOWA) -- Web site dedicated to Web-specific art maintained by Amy Stone

Shakespeare Illustrated -- Collection of nineteenth-century paintings, criticisms, and productions of Shakespeare's plays and their influences on one another

History of Art Virtual Library -- An extensive collection of Art History links that includes computer applications as well.

Timeline of Art History -- A chronological, geographical, and thematic exploration of the history of art from around the world, as illustrated especially by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection.

Art Libraries Society of North America -- Founded in 1972,the organization provides a forum for enhanced communication and cooperation.

College Art Association -- Founded in 1911,the CAA supports individuals committed to art, teaching, and research in the visual arts.

Computers and the History of Art -- Founded in 1985, CHART's focus is on the computer applications to the study of art and design.

International Center of Medieval Art -- Founded in 1956, the Center seeks to support study of the visual arts in Medieval Europe.

National Art Education Association -- Founded in 1947, NAEA promotes excellence in art education at all academic levels.

National Endowment for the Arts -- Established by Congress in 1965, the Endowment is the nation's largest annual funder of the arts.

Pennsylvania Council on the Arts – Founded in 1966, the Council aims to foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in Pennsylvania.

Exhibitions

Eye Contact: Modern American Portrait Drawings from the National Portrait Gallery -- This exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery uses portrait drawings dating from the 1880s to the 1980s to show the ways in which the art of portraiture has been changed by trends in 20th century art.

Museums

The Art Institute of Chicago

Detroit Institute of the Arts -- Founded in 1883, the Detroit Institute of Arts is one of the finest art museums in the United States and is well-known for its fine holdings in American art of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Visitors to the site will want to begin by examining the Collection section, which features selected images from the Institute's holdings, most notably selected works from the Hudson River School and the American Impressionists. Scholars will want to examine the Research Library and Archives section of the site, which features an online catalogue of the 175,000 volumes held by the Library.
