Addictions

Addiction Search -- Maintained by Emil Chiauzzi, a clinical psychologist currently working on multimedia addiction treatment projects, this directory of links is organized into nine categories: news, the addictions, statistics, populations, treatment, prevention, social issues, organizations, and harm reduction. Under subheadings in each category, the Web master provides numerous annotated links--primarily to government agencies and clearinghouses, higher education institutions, research centers, and not-for-profit organizations.

Clinical Psychology 

Center for the Study of Autism -- Autism and autism-related resources on the Internet

David Baldwin's Trauma Information pages -- Details causes, and treatments of trauma and provides extensive lists of resources

HealthFinder -- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides government health news and reports including spotlight on minority health, also includes online journals and access to health databases.

Mental Health Net -- Research citations and suggested bibliographies are provided by Phillip W. Long, M.D. This is not a "peer-reviewed" site so information must be further evaluated. However, this site is recognized as an important site because of the vast array of information provided on specific mental disorders. 

National Center for PTSD -- Fact sheets, research and education on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are provided by the Center, a program of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The PILOTS database ("Published International Literature on Traumatic Stress") is maintained here.

Social Welfare Resources -- University at Albany site on Social Welfare includes excellent sites on Children, Youth and Families, Gerontology, Mental Health and Therapy, Social Policy, Substance Abuse, Government Resources, and Statistical Sources

Educators Reference Desk -- Formerly the ERIC database, the world's largest source of education information, contains more than 950,000 abstracts and is updated monthly. 

Council for Exceptional Children -- International organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for students who are gifted or have disabilities

disABILITY Information and Resources -- Well regarded list of sites, particularly useful is the category on University/Education Disability Resource.

Education Review -- Review articles of recently published books in sixteen departments covering the range of educational scholarship

ERIC -- Educational Resources Information Center and Other Clearinghouses - This site provides information on all of ERIC services.

Buros Institute Test Reviews Online -- Searchable database of 10,000+ tests and other assessment research instruments. Searchable database focusing on assessment and evaluation issues, test locator, statistics, and educational research.

Annual Review of Psychology -- Useful for current topics in psychology. 

BUBL Link: Psychology Links -- Excellent Psychology subject directory

Encyclopedia of Psychology -- The compilers wanted "to create a set of links that represent the best available sites organized in a manner that furthers the understanding of Psychology as a science," and they did. Eight topic areas, ranging from career to environment behavior relationships, guide users to approximately 2,000 links. The topical areas include links to pet behavior disorders, athletic performance optimization, graduate school application tips, psychological software, and random number generators.

Galaxy Psychology Page -- A good commercial subject directory.

Internet Mental Health--This site provides information on disorders, common psychiatric medications and additional resources to consult through their "Magazine" and "Research" links.  A good site for those beginning to research mental health disorders.

Krantz Tutorial on Basic Neural Processes -- Provides a quiz and a brain structure atlas. Also, check out The Whole Brain Atlas page.

Psych Web -- Key psychology site maintained by Professor Dewey at Georgia Southern University. Arranged in a topical hierarchy, this site includes Web megalists, journal lists and two full-length classic contributions on-line, The Interpretation of Dreams (3rd Edition) by Sigmund Freud and Varieties of Religious Experience by William James

Psych Central--"a peer-reviewed psychology and mental health directory on the Internet, begun in 1992 as an index to mental health and support newsgroups.  It now indexes over 3,000 resources, and offers hundreds of innovative articles on mental health symptoms and treatments, psychology and relationship topics, as well as interactive online quizzes and a vibrant online self-help support community."-Psych Central, 2004

Social Psychology Network -- An excellent site which provides a topical breakdown, an extensive list of topics with related links ranging from childhood development to cross cultural psychology, prejudice and discrimination, gender, culture, social influence, interpersonal relations, group behavior, aggression, and more

The Counseling Center Village--This comprehensive web-site gives a listing of virtual pamphlets on psycho-educational topics, research and technology ideas, clinical practice and assessment resources as well as highlighting current college counseling centers online.
